For the music pieces, I leveraged the Scotiabank Arena colour scheme on the faces and hands of the figures to show them expressing the spirit of the arena and their form of entertainment there, the concert. The boys’ colours include light blue, dark red, red, green, and light green, and lilac, pink, orange, and yellow for the girl. Their glowing hands represent their performance instrument’s energies as the girl sings, holding a microphone, and the boy plays the guitar. In addition, their backgrounds (the Scotiabank multi-coloured mosaic and stars) pay homage to the “Searchlight Starlight Spotlight” sculpture outside the arena, and the two paintings act as a diptych, connecting and completing when combined.
