Unity, Peace, & Sportsmanship
This piece shows two basketball players shaking hands before a basketball net, which is also the Haudenosaunee Tree of Peace. Atop the basketball net sits a bald eagle, of which safeguards the peace and unity of our Confederacy. I strongly believe that when my artwork comes to mind as easy as this in terms of initial planning, there's a spiritual aspect to it attempting to get a message across to the people; I'm just the means through which it gets put on paper. Often when I begin a piece of artwork it starts in one of two ways; the image of the artwork either pops up in my head as soon as I start thinkin' on it, or it requires a few hours of sitting at the drawing table meticulously planning the layout of the piece until I'm satisfied with how it will look. When I sat down to begin this piece in particular, the entire image immediately appeared in my head. Although I may not understand the artwork myself sometimes, folks seem to get something from these pieces through their own perspectives and influences.
